Caring for Your Plants

How Do I Care for My Houseplants?

Every house plant has its own requirements and plant care is often about trial and error, just like people, plants are all different and have different needs.

Information and tips to care for specific plants is widely available and for each plant that we sell, we have put together a short description of how to care for your house plant.

Of course, there are a few common mistakes that you can avoid. Two of the most common questions that we are asked are:

  • Where should I put my houseplant in my house?
  • How much water does my plant need?

These are two of the most important factors in caring for you plant.

Where Should I put my plant?

Where you position your plant is essential to its survival, it will depend on the plant. Some plants need a sunny spot, others like shade, some like direct sun, other like indirect light.

For best results, a plant should be homed in a position that closely mimics its natural habitat. It is not just about light levels, temperature and humidity are just as important.

A plant that likes a humid environment might do best in a kitchen or bathroom.

A plant that likes a warmer temperature might like a conservatory or a sunny window.

Some plants are less fussy and will thrive in any room and adapt to the conditions.

How much water does my plant need?

Water is much the same, some plants like drier soil and require less water, while others prefer to be kept moist, importantly, not soggy!

Our plant labels and website should have you covered, but if you need any more information, we are always happy to help.
