Native to the tropical and subtropical Americas—including Central and South America and the West Indies—Maidenhair ferns belong to the Adiantaceae family. Their common name comes from their delicate, hair-like leafy stems. In the wild, they thrive in damp, humid environments, growing alongside streams and rivers, on forest floors, and even in rock crevices on cliffs.
