Opuntia pailana is a lesser-known species of prickly pear cactus believed to originate from Mexico, where it grows in dry, arid landscapes with plenty of sun and well-drained soil. Like other Opuntia, it forms segmented pads that can branch over time to create a sculptural, spreading shape. It is adapted to drought conditions and thrives with minimal water and high light.
