Meet the Hoya 'Mathilde splash'

Hoya ‘Mathilde Splash’ is a hybrid cultivar in the Apocynaceae family, created from a cross between Hoya carnosa and Hoya serpens. Combining the best qualities of both parent plants, it has compact, ovate green leaves generously splashed with silvery markings. Like many Hoyas, it originates from tropical forest species native to Southeast Asia, where they grow as epiphytes on trees in warm, humid conditions. When mature, ‘Mathilde Splash’ produces clusters of highly fragrant white to pale pink flowers, making it a beautiful trailing or climbing houseplant.

Growing & Care

Bright warm spot. Some direct early morning or late afternoon sun is ok. Midday direct sunlight can cause the leaves to burn. An east or west facing window is best. Hoya can store water in their leaves so are somewhat drought tolerant. Water thoroughly but allow this plant to dry out half way between waterings. Can adapt well to normal household conditions but will enjoy some humidity. A balanced houseplant fertiliser. Left to grow, expect a spread of Up to 60 cm wide and a height of Up to 150 cm tall with time.

Repotting

Once every two years - doesn't mind being slightly root bound.
