Platycerium bifurcatum, commonly known as the Staghorn Fern, is an epiphytic fern native to Australia and New Guinea. In the wild, it grows attached to trees in warm, humid forests, absorbing moisture and nutrients from the air and surrounding debris. It is famous for its dramatic antler-shaped fertile fronds and rounded shield fronds that help anchor the plant and protect its roots. Its sculptural growth habit makes it a striking feature plant, especially when mounted or hung.

Growing & Care

Semi shady spot to bright indirect light. Allow half of the soil to dry out between waters, using room temperature water. Avoid watering the centre nest as the can cause the plant to rot. Medium to high humidity. A balanced houseplant fertiliser. Left to grow, expect a spread of Up to 100 cm wide and a height of Up 90 cm tall with time.
