More About Spotted Begonia Houseplant

The Spotted Begonia is a real favourite of ours, its beautiful polka dotted leaves have a gorgeous red underside, a great contrast to the deep green top leaves. The Spotted Begonia requires bright indirect light and is undemanding to keep. It makes for a simple plant to grow and super rewarding!

This houseplant does not tolerate direct sunlight, this will result in the leaves becoming burnt and scorched. It does require a bright spot, anywhere that is bright but not in direct sunlight.

A native of rainforests, the spotted begonia does prefer a humid spot, as well as bright indirect sunlight making a kitchen or bathroom a perfect spot. Daily misting is also an option if you home the plant in a less humid spot. Some stones on the top of the soil are a great way to seal in moisture and create humid conditions too.

One of the keys to success with the polka dot begonia is to ensure the soil is kept moist - never let it dry out. The soil should never be soaking wet and water should be able to freely drain away to ensure that the plant roots do not rot.
