Alocasia macrorrhiza ‘Stingray’ originates from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, where species of Alocasia macrorrhiza naturally grow in warm, humid environments with filtered light beneath the forest canopy. Part of the Araceae family, this cultivar is a distinctive ornamental selection known for its uniquely shaped leaves that resemble a stingray, an exaggerated form of the large foliage that gives Alocasias their common name, Elephant Ear. Its arching, speckled stems and textured, dimpled leaves reflect adaptations to its native rainforest habitat and contribute to its dramatic, sculptural presence in cultivation.
