The Calathea ornata is a gorgeous plant, with stunning pink stripes and its deep green leaves, it is a stunning plant to look at. It is also a rare variety of Calathea plant. Add to this that it is completely safe to pets and it is a great plant for indoors.

The pinstripe plants natural habitat is the warm and humid tropical rainforests of Colombia. It is a plant that requires an experienced owner and can at times be quite demanding with the care is needs. An experienced or dedicated plant owner will see this plant thrive, however, if it does not get the care it needs and its plant parent does not spot the signs that the plant is unhappy, it will fade and not be able tot be revived.

For success, the plant needs a warm humid spot
with indirect light. Its soil should be kept moist. It can be kept in a spot with low to medium light and thrive. This plant does not tolerate direct sunlight, which will cause the leaves to fade and lose their
colouring.

Another important thing to remember is to keep
the pin-stripe plant away from dry air, so it should not be placed near radiators, heaters or air conditioning units.
